The Doogie Hill Project continues to thrive on the Lancaster Jazz scene. We released our first CD in April 2005 and sales are steady on CDBABY and at our gigs.

Our repetoire is expanding and a new favorite is a blues I picked up from Von Freeman entitled "Disorder at the Border". I heard it on the radio one night and just had to do it. Some nights I let Jimmy set the pace "........play it as fast as ya want!" - and then we just hold for the ride as we try to keep up with Jimmy. Put's me back in the old Bop days when the pace was always blistering and its a wild ride.

Come join us

................and thanks for stopping by

About the Guys:

Jimmy Z - The youngest, and yet the longest standing member of the Project (besides me!) Other musicians who hear the band are surprised at how good he plays, being so young. He is a real "listener" and we have developed a musical connection. He also brings in all the young girls to our gigs!

Bobby - Is one of the busiest bass players in the area and I'm happy to have him working with me. He plays in a number of different styles and teaches both guitar and bass lessons. He is now the only member of the group that shaves his head.

Darnel - Big D has joined us on our last few gigs and will continue when ever he is available. I have wanted to team up with a trombone player for several years and Darnel fit the bill. He is my Horn Section mate in the DC & Company horn section so we are familiar with each other styles.

Doogie - When I called the band a "Project", I wanted a group that would be ever changeing and re-newing itself. We have had a number of terrific players join the band for various gigs and each brings someting special to the sound. We continue to add tunes to the repetoire and advance the depth of the interplay between the players - and we have a great time everytime we get together!
